At Eckle’s Place, teacher-designed is not a marketing phrase added to a box after the product has been made. It is where the product begins.
Eckle’s Place resources are backed by more than 30 years of in-school primary teaching experience. That experience matters because classrooms have a way of exposing the difference between an idea that looks good on paper and a resource that genuinely works with a group of children at 10:15 on a Tuesday morning.
Designed with the classroom in mind
Years spent teaching in primary schools shape the questions we ask when developing a resource. How long will it take to explain? Can students use it independently after modelling? Will it work with two students, a small group or at the teacher table? Can the task be made easier or harder without changing the entire resource? Is it sturdy enough to be used again and again?
Those questions sound simple. They are also the difference between a resource that earns a permanent place in a classroom and one that quietly migrates to the back of a cupboard.
Built around how teachers actually teach
Primary teaching is rarely one activity delivered one way to one perfectly uniform group. Teachers move between explicit instruction, guided practice, rotations, intervention, independent work and extension throughout the day.
That is why Eckle’s Place products are designed to be flexible. A maths resource might first be used by the teacher to model a concept, then move into paired practice, a small-group rotation or an extension challenge. A literacy card game might support oral rehearsal before writing, vocabulary work, sentence construction or targeted support.
The resource stays familiar while the learning intention and cognitive demand can change.
Practical before complicated
Teachers already manage curriculum planning, assessment, differentiation, behaviour, communication, reporting and the hundreds of tiny decisions that make a primary classroom function. A classroom resource should reduce friction, not add another complicated system to learn.
We aim for games that are quick to understand, easy to reset and purposeful enough that teachers can immediately see where they fit within their teaching.
Made by people who know the room
More than three decades in primary classrooms means knowing that children need clear expectations, that equipment will occasionally end up under furniture, that a five-minute transition matters, and that the best resources often generate more than one kind of learning at once.
A child moving a marble may be developing number sense while also explaining a strategy. A group building sentences may be practising grammar while negotiating ideas, speaking, listening and learning from one another.
That experience sits behind every Eckle’s Place resource.
Designed by teachers. Tested against the reality of classrooms. Made to help teachers teach and children learn.
